Ridgefield Schools
More than 5,400 students attend schools within the Ridgefield School District. Consisting of one high school, two middle schools, and six elementary schools, Ridgefield School District provides students with small student/teacher ratios. These ratios, up-to-date educational materials, and new equipment reflect the district’s commitment to providing quality education to all its students. These efforts on behalf of the district have led to community-wide support for student academics, athletes and extracurricular programs.
According to GreatSchools Inc., a not-for-profit education organization, Ridgefield School District students consistently score well above the state average for exam results in all grade levels. Elementary and middle school students take the Connecticut Mastery Test (CMT) to measure reading, writing and math skills. At least 89 percent of students in grades 3-8 tested at or above proficiency in all three subject areas in 2006. High school sophomores took the Connecticut Academic Performance Test (CAPT) in 2006 to measure skills in reading, writing, math and science. At least 95 percent of Ridgefield students tested at or above proficiency compared to the state average of 78-82 percent, depending on subject.
